Recently, a new study from King's College London, UK, found that the health risk of electronic cigarettes is far less than that of cigarettes, and smokers who switch to cigarettes will greatly reduce their exposure to toxins that can cause cancer, lung disease and cardiovascular disease. At the same time, Sun Yat-sen University, a Chinese university, also published a paper in SCI. Its conclusion showed that its relative harm reduction potential was verified at the cell level.
Recently, according to foreign reports, a new study commissioned by the Health Improvement and Difference Office of the Ministry of Health and Social Health of the UK, King's College London, found that smokers who switch to smoking will greatly reduce their exposure to toxins that can cause cancer, lung disease and cardiovascular disease.
This is the most comprehensive review of e-cigarettes with health risks so far. The report provides the strongest evidence to prove that its health risks are far less than cigarettes. The report may lead the National Health Service to prescribe it as a smoking cessation tool.
Ann McNeill, a professor of tobacco addiction at King's College and the main author of the study, said: Smoking is unique and fatal, which will kill one quarter of regular and continuous smokers, but about two thirds of adult smokers who really benefit from switching to electronic cigarettes do not know that the harm of electronic cigarettes is small.
The research report shows that its harm is much lower than that of smoking, and smokers should be encouraged to use it instead. Dr Leon Shahab, professor of health psychology at University College London and co-director of the Tobacco and Alcohol Research Group, said: This study confirmed the findings of previous reviews in this field, that the harm of nicotine atomizer is far less than that of smoking.
In July this year, Sun Yat-sen University published a paper in the SCI journal Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety. The conclusion showed that under the condition of acute exposure for 24 hours, the effect of the smoke condensate of the atomizer on human lung epithelial cell line (BEAS-2B) was far less than that of the cigarette smoke condensate, and its relative harm reduction potential was verified from the cell level.
The results showed that at the toxicological dose, the negative effects of smoke agglutination on human lung epithelial cell toxicity and gene change were relatively weak, suggesting that its potential toxicity was low and its safety was good.
According to foreign media reports, on September 29, Kingsley Wheaton, the chief growth officer of BAT Tobacco, appealed at the GTNF forum that the public should get rid of the "smoking cessation or death" mode of smoking, invest more in sustainable alternatives such as electronic cigarettes, and focus on reducing harm. Kingsley Wheaton also said that "BAT has been trying to shift its product portfolio from traditional cigarettes to new ones
