France Plans To Ban Disposable E-cigarettes
Sep 08, 2023
French Prime Minister Elizabeth Borne said in an interview with Luxembourg Radio and Television on September 3, 2023 that France will soon ban the sale of disposable e-cigarettes in France, but did not specify the specific time when the ban will take effect.
According to multiple media reports, Borne said, "Tobacco causes 75000 deaths per year in France, which is a huge number. The government will soon introduce a new national plan to reduce tobacco consumption, including a ban on disposable e-cigarettes. This type of e-cigarette is one of the important reasons for attracting young people to smoke
However, Borne stated that due to France's increase in tobacco taxes this year, it will not be considered to raise taxes on tobacco again at this time.
According to the Associated Press, disposable e-cigarettes in France typically sell for between 8 and 12 euros, with a variety of fruity flavors that are particularly attractive to young people. Although France currently has laws prohibiting the sale of e-cigarettes to minors, they have not been effectively implemented.
