Dec 13, 2023
According to Reuters on December 11th, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador stated on Monday that he plans to propose a bill banning e-cigarettes and electronic atomizers before stepping down in 2024, which was previously rejected by the Supreme Court.
"It has been proven that these things are harmful to health," he said at a regular press conference on Monday.
According to reports, Mexico has implemented one of the strictest anti tobacco laws in the world since the passage of a comprehensive ban on smoking in public places (including streets) at the beginning of the year.
In addition, Mexico has banned the import of electronic cigarettes.
The global criticism of e-cigarettes is increasing, as devices containing nicotine have become popular among young people. Australia announced an import ban last month.
