Oxfordshire, UK plans to launch an e-cigarette product recycling service funded by the non-profit recycling organization Material Focus.
According to Oxford shire, the UK plans to launch an e-cigarette product recycling service, funded by the non-profit recycling organization Material Focus.
The Oxford County Council, Chawell District Council, and Oxford City Council plan to jointly provide new e-cigarette product recycling services across the county to prevent people from disposing of disposable e-cigarette products in trash cans, regular waste, or mixed recycling, which may contaminate other recyclables and even cause fires in garbage trucks or waste disposal facilities in some cases.
The new Home Waste Recycling Center (HWRC) bright pink e-cigarette trash bin will be installed on November 29th, and collection points will also be set up in other locations.
The project is funded by Material Focus, a non-profit organization that leads the electronics recycling movement and has provided over £ 40000 in funding to Oxfordshire, making it one of the first county councils to lead the recycling of e-cigarettes.
This funding is part of a broader plan aimed at making it easier for 10 million British residents to recycle their appliances.
Residents will also learn how and where to recycle e-cigarettes through the information on flyers and HypnoCat posters. Pay attention to HypnoCat, a captivating pink furry mascot whose mission is to hypnotize local residents and recycle their e-cigarettes.
Pete Sudbury, a member of the Climate Change and Environment Cabinet of the Oxford County Council, stated:
"Due to its environmental impact, we will support the ban on the sale of disposable e-cigarettes and encourage the use of reusable e-cigarettes where possible."
Scott Butler, Executive Director of Material Focus, stated:
"We are pleased to support 'recycling your e-cigarettes' as it will help address the urgent issue of e-cigarette waste. This project can serve as a model for other initiatives in the UK, making e-cigarette recycling easier by providing public recycling points."
