Significant increase in patent applications for disposable vape in Australia
Aug 21, 2023
Professor Matthew Rimmer from Queensland University of Technology in Australia recently pointed out that in recent years, there has been a sharp increase in intellectual property patent applications related to disposable vape in Australia, indicating that tobacco companies have made significant investments in new technologies related to disposable vape.
Professor Rimmer stated that tobacco companies are seeking to develop patents, trademarks, and other forms of intellectual property in this field. He supports the government's regulation of disposable vape, including setting minimum quality standards for disposable vape, restricting taste, color, and composition, using non decorative packaging similar to drugs, reducing nicotine concentration and content, and prohibiting all disposable vapes.
