Spree Bar: Focusing On Attacking Convenience Store Channels With The 'egal' Brand

Feb 07, 2024

At 3pm Western Time on January 30th, at the TPE Educational Sessions forum event prior to the TPE exhibition, Henry Signano, President of electronic cigarette company Charlie's Holdings Inc., gave a keynote speech introducing his company's new product, Spree Bar.
Spree Bar is a disposable atomization product for cartridge replacement, providing a 6000 port cartridge and a detachable, rechargeable battery.
But the uniqueness of this product is that its active ingredient is not nicotine, but a substance called "Metatine". Henry introduced that this is not the name of a chemical substance, but a trademark, and the true effective chemical ingredient is a substance similar to "hexamethylnicotine".
According to an industry insider, hexamethylnicotine is an intermediate product in the artificial synthesis of nicotine, which can produce a nicotine like effect after absorption by the human body. Therefore, there are also some tobacco manufacturers in China that are making relevant technological reserves, but due to concerns about public opinion and regulatory risks, the relevant products have not been launched yet.
Henry stated that the reason for not using hexamethylnicotine is that Metatine can better restore taste and provide consumers with a better experience.
The Spree Bar represented by Henry is more decisive. They found that this ingredient is not within the regulatory scope of the US FDA, so they chose to go public in October 2023. According to Henry, they have achieved good sales results in the United States and are preparing for a new round of listing actions in 2024. This time, they are targeting the Key Account channel in the United States, which is nearly 15000 convenience stores, supermarkets, etc. in the United States.
Henry took out a promotional page that introduced three PMTA products currently on sale in Key Account in the United States, namely VUSE, JUUL, and NJOY. The product features only tobacco flavor, which requires tobacco taxes, and the price is relatively high.
Henry stated that due to the fact that the active ingredient Metatine in his product is neither artificially synthesized nicotine nor a tobacco extract product, it is a "completely non nicotine product" and is not regulated by PMTA or subject to tobacco taxes. Therefore, he can legally sell atomized products with various flavors at lower prices in Key Accounts in almost all 50 states of the United States. However, it should be noted that taste bans in certain regions of the United States restrict "flavored atomized products" rather than "flavored nicotine e-cigarettes," so Spree Bar cannot market under the first restriction.
"This is a market worth billions of dollars," Henry explained. During the interview, it was learned that the estimated retail price of its product (cigarette bombs only) is $9.95. If purchasing a starter kit containing batteries, cigarette bombs, and charging cables, it would cost around $20.
Henry stated that Spree Bar's products did not undergo in vivo toxicology testing before their launch. However, due to the similarity between Metatine and nicotine, he stated that the toxicity of Metatine is definitely lower than that of Oral Nicotine. In addition, Spree Bar has issued a warning on the packaging stating "No use by pregnant women" and also prohibits sales to consumers under the age of 21.
In terms of user experience, Henry stated that Spree Bar's products are "indistinguishable with regular vapes" when used, which helps to convert e-cigarette consumers.
When asked if he was concerned about competitors competing for similar products to seize channels and market share, Henry remained optimistic about the market prospects of Spree Bar. He stated that they had prepared for over a year before going public, and believed that during the one-year preparation period of their competitors, they had already occupied the main KA channels. At 3pm Western Time on January 30th, at the TPE Educational Sessions forum event prior to the TPE exhibition, Henry Signano, President of electronic cigarette company Charlie's Holdings Inc., gave a keynote speech introducing his company's new product, Spree Bar.
