The Number Of E-cigarette Users in The UK Skyrocketed To 5.1 Million Per Day, With Over Half Being Women
Nov 27, 2023
A survey by the UK Addiction Treatment Organization shows that at least 5.1 million British adults use e-cigarettes every day, more than half of whom are women, including nearly 400000 pregnant women. The use of e-cigarettes is rapidly increasing across all age groups, especially among those aged 40-49 and 18-24. This situation has triggered a health crisis in the UK.
According to ITV News in the UK, a large number of British people have started using e-cigarettes in an attempt to quit smoking, but they have found it increasingly difficult to quit.
A survey exclusively shared by the UK addiction treatment organization with ITV News found that 5.1 million British adults use e-cigarettes every day, more than half of whom are women, totaling 2.6 million, including nearly 400000 pregnant women.
In addition, the use of e-cigarettes across all age groups is also rapidly increasing, with over 1 million users aged 40-49 and over 850000 users aged 18-24.
Paul Buck from Alan Carr's quit smoking organization said that the number of people calling to quit smoking has also increased.
"If we go back five years ago, there might have been 10% of people who were e-cigarette users. But at that time, they were dual users. This means they smoked both e-cigarettes."
He said that more than 20% of electronic cigarette users are now participating in smoking cessation programs, with more and more people who have never smoked and only purely smoke electronic cigarettes.
