Russian Federal Taxation Bureau: Cancellation of Consumption Tax on Electronic Cigarette Rods and Heating Tobacco Equipment

Recently, the Russian Federal Taxation Bureau has sent a letter to lower tax authorities regarding the new consumption tax regulations for electronic cigarettes and heating tobacco equipment.

The Federal Taxation Bureau has made modifications to Chapter 22 of the Russian Federation Tax Code, "Consumption Tax". According to this revision, starting from March 1, 2023, the following goods are not taxable goods:

*Electronic Nicotine Delivery System (Electronic Cigarette Stick)

*Heating tobacco equipment

That is to say, the consumption tax on imported and exported electronic cigarette sticks and heating tobacco equipment will be officially abolished from March 1st. It is reported that the new regulations cover member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia.
