British Politicians Call For A Complete Ban On Disposable E-cigarettes

The British government plans to restrict the use of e-cigarettes to combat the smoking problem among teenagers, but it has received strong reaction and criticism from society. Some experts and local governments have called for a comprehensive ban on disposable e-cigarettes, believing that this is the most effective way to solve the problem.
According to British media Inews, the British government has announced an eight week public consultation. However, some members of society criticized Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for only focusing on reducing the use of disposable e-cigarettes, failing to actively address the phenomenon of teenagers using e-cigarettes, and failing to fully ban one-time e-cigarettes.
In the plan, the government will consider adding some modifications in addition to restricting the sale of disposable e-cigarettes, including restricting the taste and introduction of e-cigarettes to reduce their attractiveness to children, standardizing e-cigarette packaging, increasing e-cigarette prices, and so on, in order to reduce the attractiveness of e-cigarettes to young people.
In response to these policies, Dame Rachel de Souza, the UK Children's Commissioner, called on Sunac to take decisive action and completely ban disposable e-cigarettes.
Only through strong action, including a complete ban on disposable e-cigarettes, can we prevent teenagers from becoming addicted to e-cigarettes, "she said.
The Local Government Association (LGA) in England and Wales has also joined the call for the Prime Minister to completely ban disposable e-cigarettes. David Fotherill, Chairman of the LGA Community Welfare Committee, said:
Disposable e-cigarettes are inherently unsustainable products, so a comprehensive ban is the most effective way to solve this problem
A draft shows that the proportion of British teenagers trying e-cigarettes has increased by 50% in the past year. The Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) has also called for a comprehensive ban on disposable e-cigarettes, emphasizing that they are "not risk-free products and may be as addictive as traditional cigarettes".
Although the government will protect children from the long-term harm of cigarettes as soon as possible based on previous commitments, everything is already very worrying.
Wes Streeting, a member of the UK Labour Party and Shadow Health Minister, stated that if the Labour Party enters No. 10 Downing Street (i.e. becomes the ruling party), it will respond to calls for a comprehensive ban on disposable e-cigarettes. He added:
